Some leaders of Al-Qaeda and the Taliban -- but not Osama bin Laden or Mullah Mohmmad Omar --were believed killed in US air strikes on two buildings, one in Kabul and the other in Kandahar, over the past two days, Pentagon spokeswoman Victoria Clarke said Thursday. There was some senior leadership in both, said Clarke. There was no evidence that Osama bin Laden was there, she added.
The first strike, Tuesday, hit a building near Kabul where some number of Taliban and Al-Qaeda leaders were gathered. A second building, where leaders had also congregated, was hit Wednesday in Kandahar, she said.
UbL, Omar -- no evidence that they were there, she said, using a military acronym for bin Laden, the Al-Qaeda leader blamed for the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States that killed around 5,000 people.
