Kanpur, June 03: A designated Pota court today
extended judicial remand of jailed Independent MLA Raghuraj
Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, his father Udai Pratap Singh
and cousin Akshay Pratap Singh, MLC, till June 17.
District and sessions judge Shailendra Saxena, who is
also designated Pota judge, fixed June 17 for the next hearing
in the case.
The defence counsel of the three detenues moved an
application seeking one-week parole for Raja Bhaiya saying he
was "required" by his followers as the political situation in
Uttar Pradesh had become hectic following withdrawal of
support by Rashtriya Lok Dal to the Mayawati government.
The court has fixed June six for disposal of the parole
application.
The counsel also filed an application seeking more time
for filing objections against the charges brought against the
three.
The hearing was held in Kanpur district jail, where Raja
Bhaiya is presently lodged. His father Udai Pratap was brought
from Pratapgarh jail and cousin Akshay Pratap from Mirzapur
jail.
