Hyderabad, Sept 21: Asserting that TDP government would not spare any “tainted” person in the multi-crore stamp paper scam, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has favoured a CBI probe into the issue as people from many states were involved in the “murky deal”. "After the Pune police had shown evidence in the form of audio tapes, we had taken action (against Krishna Yadav) and if there is substantial proof against some others, we will not hesitate to take stern measures, irrespective of their position or party affiliations," Naidu told reporters here today.
"Since the issue covers more than one state and the Nashik Printing Press, which forms nucleus of the entire scam, comes under the purview of the Centre, it would be better if a CBI probe is ordered into the whole issue," he said. Accusing Congress of trying to politicise the issue, Naidu denied the charge that state government did not act on time though the case came to light in 1999.
"We have done our best and have moved in the right direction and will take action against anyone whose name figures in the scam with substantial proof," Naidu said adding the Opposition was raking up the issue to gain a political mileage out of the issue. Reiterating that discipline and accountability were the watchwords of his partyline, Naidu said, "We have clear guidelines on the decorum to be maintained in public life..... If people sidestep it, will take firm action." Bureau Report
