New Delhi, July 10: Top amateur Manav Das played below par but still maintained his lead with a scorecard of 2-over 74 in the second round of the Jaypee Open Amateur Golf Championship at Greater Noida yesterday.
Manav did look in good touch when he made birdies on third, fourth and ninth holes, but double bogeys on the sixth, tenth and 13th holes robbed him of a good lead over other leading amateurs. Manav finished the day on a total score of 143.
The best score of the day came from former Indian cricket captain and now an avid golfer Kapil Dev who played even par. Kapil made a quiet start playing the first three holes level par and made birdies on fourth and sixth holes on the front nine and 11th and 14th on the back nine.
But bogeys on holes 5, 9, 10 and 16 restricted him from putting up a better show under overcast and windy conditions. Kapil's score after the second round was 149.
Jaskirat Singh Dullet jumped to the joint second position with a total score of 145 alongwith Vikrant Chopra and Shiv Kapur. Keshav Mishra was four strokes behind the leader with a total of 147.
