Singapore, Aug 08: The Singapore Tourism Board honoured visiting Latin pop star Ricky Martin today by naming a Yellow Orchid speckled with crimson spots after him. "Hello, sexy how are you?" martin asked the dainty flower, during the naming ceremony at Singapore's downtown botanical gardens. "You're supposed to talk to your plants, right?"

The Renaglottis Ricky martin is a hybrid of the Renanthera Bella and Trichoglottis Loheriana species, both indigenous to southeast Asia, the tourism board said. It produces small star-shaped flowers year-round.
Martin is in Singapore to promote his latest album, "Almas Del Silencio" (Souls of Silence).
It's the first Spanish-language album for martin in five years.
The 31-year-old singer, who got his start 20 years ago as a star in the Puerto Rican teen group Menudo, told reporters that making the album was "a very beautiful, creative process."
"It was about doing music, no egos. It was about challenging emotions, and (being) daring and I think it's something that must be done more often in this business," he said.
Martin plans to release a new English album next February and will follow it with a world tour, that includes stops in Australia and Asia, Martin said. Bureau Report
