Indian Wells, Mar 18: Wins at Indian Wells for Coria, Agassi, Federer and Chela.
Fourth-seeded Argentine Guillermo Coria rallied to defeat 13th-seeded Sebastien Grosjean of France 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 in Indian Wells on Tuesday (March 16). Coria needed all his speed and skill to defeat Grosjean at the Pacific Life Open -- the first of nine Tennis Masters Series events this year. In the quarterfinals, Coria will meet fifth-seeded Andre Agassi, who beat Mikhail Youzhny of Russia 7-5 6-2.
Agassi overcame a stiff test in the opening set to register his victory but regained control of the centre of the court and ran the Russian from side to side for the rest of the contest.
World No. 1 Swiss Roger Federer dismantled 18th-seeded American Mardy Fish 6-4, 6-1 to reach the quarterfinals. The top-seeded Federer, who improved to a brilliant 19-1 this season, will meet Argentina's Juan Ignacio Chela in the round of eight.
Chela ended Tommy Haas' run here by dispatching the former world No. 2 German 6-4, 6-2.
The winner of the tournament will take home 400,000 dollars.
