Shimla, Aug 15: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has said vacant posts in health and education departments in tribal and backward areas would be filled on priority basis and irrigation facilities would be improved in tribal areas of the state to boost their economy. The state government was committed to provide educational and health services to the people for which local eligible candidates would be engaged on contract basis in the absence of regular staff, he said at keylong while inaugurating a three-day state-level tribal fair last evening.

Singh said the economy of tribal areas would be given a boost and adequate irrigation facilities provided to increase the farm produce.

He said besides repairing existing irrigation facilities new channels would also be build for the benefit of farmers. Thanking people for supporting the policies of Congress and electing party candidates in three tribal seats which went to elections on June 6, Singh said his government would fulfill promises made in its election manifesto.
