Guwahati, Aug 10: The United forum against atrocities on women today urged the Assam government that Rs 15 lakh be immediately paid to the family of the eight-yearold who was allegedly raped and killed in the city recently.
Secretary of the forum Sumitra Hazarika told reporters here that a delegation of the forum had recently visited Agartala, where the victims' family was currently staying and her mother undergoing psychiatric treatment.
The delegation also met Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar whom it urged to provide financial help to the victim's family and he assured them that the government would bear the entire expenditure for the treatment of the victim's mother.
Hazarika said the Tripura Women's Commission had also taken up the case.
