Another batch of 2343 pilgrims leave for Amarnath cave
Jammu, July 26: Another batch of 2343 pilgrims left here today for the cave shrine of Amarnath in Kashmir Himalayas despite inclement weather prevailing in several parts of Jammu division.
Jammu, July 26: Another batch of 2343 pilgrims left here today for the cave shrine of Amarnath in Kashmir Himalayas despite inclement weather prevailing in several parts of Jammu division.
The batch -- consisting of 1713 men, 273 women, 45 children and 212 sadhus -- left from M A M Stadium in a cavalcade of 103 vehicles around 0530 hours, official sources said adding they had crossed Patnitop along Jammu-Srinagar highway by 1100 hours.
Today's batch was the smallest of all since the commencement of the yatra on July 9, they said.
Over 1.23 lakh pilgrims have so far come to Kashmir Valley in connection with the holy pilgrimage. Of these, over 1.14 lakh had `darshan' of the holy `ice-lingam' in the cave
located at an altitude of 3800 metres.
