Rajasthan CM demands Rs.100 crores for calamity affected areas
Jaipur, July 28: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has requested Union government to release immediately Rs.100 crore for the calamity affected areas in view of the critical famine situation in the state for the last five years.
Jaipur, July 28: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has requested Union government to release immediately Rs.100 crore for the calamity affected areas in view of the critical famine situation in the state for the last five years.
In a letter written to the Union Rural Development Minister Kashiram Rana, Gehlot said the availability of Rs.100 crore would help provide labour employment along with food security to the needy persons in the state.
He said the Union government should sanction Rs 100 crore from the special five percent fund, besides the general allocation under the sampoorna gramin rozgar yojana for the year 2003-2004. He said the Union government had not intimated about its decision so far and response on this matter was still awaited.
Though the state government has stopped the works under the famine relief from July 16, 2003 keeping in view of good rainfall at some places, still arrangements have to be made for providing labour employment to people in the places which are yet to register sufficient rainfall. Bureau Report
