Kota, Aug 02: The BJP would go to the year-end assembly polls on the plank of "miserable performance" of Congress-ruled state governments and youth and women would be given preference while giving party tickets, party general secretary Pramod Mahajan said here today. The Congress governments in states going to the polls had failed miserably in providing good governance and solving problems of the people, Mahajan told reporters.

Preference would be given to the youth and women while giving party tickets for contesting in the assembly elections, he said, adding, "Instead of ghise pite(old and stale) persons we shall promote fresh faces".

However, he hastened to add that old candidates would not be ignored but no concession would be given to defeated candidates. Clean image of the aspirants for tickets would also be taken into account.
He accused the Gehlot government in Rajasthan of blaming the Centre for its own failures. The state and its people were facing problems because of Gehlot ministry's non-performance, he maintained.

He denied that state chief of BJP Vasundhara Raje had been thrust upon Rajasthan unit saying "she is a Rajasthani and has given a big thrust to the party by her dynamism. She is not only an able administrator but also an astute politicain."
