New Delhi, Dec 05: Janata Dal (United) today demanded that a minimum of Rs 50,000 should be made available to farmers through kisan credit cards at seven per cent interest as also a grain loan of at least 500 kg per farming family returnable after one year. In a letter to vice president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, senior JD(U) leader C Narasimhappa demanded that collection of power bills on irrigation pump sets be deferred for two years. He also demanded restoration of the old system of 75 per cent subsidy in drip irrigation in view of the serious problems being faced by farmers due to failure of monsoon in western and peninsular India.
