New Delhi, Oct 09: A lighthearted remark by acclaimed actor and film maker Kamal Hassan resulted in the inaugural of the International Film Festival of India here being a short affair, devoid of long speeches. Kamal Hassan, guest of honour, in his address said he would not make a long speech at the glittering ceremony as such things lead to "depleted oxygen going to the brain (of the audience) resulting in yawns". The cue was apparently taken by Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, who was the chief guest, saying Kamal Hassan had cautioned against long speeches and so he would also make a brief speech. Though Kamal Hassan spoke briefly, he emphasised the need for the viewers to discourage the scourge of piracy and also stressed that more needed to be done for financing of films to overcome the influence of the underworld and the activities of loan sharks.
