New Delhi, Mar 02: Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today expressed deep grief over the demise of former Director General of Border Security Force K F Rustomjee, a recipient of Padma Vibhushan. Belonging to 1936 batch of Indian Police (IP), Rustomjee was better known as doyen of Indian police. In a condolence message, Vajpayee said, "In his death, the country has lost a veteran police expert." “Rustomjee was a dedicated police officer who had carved out for himself a special place among those whose voice on our security concern was always respected,” the Prime Minister added.
As founder DG of BSF and also as member of various police commissions and committees on security matters, Rustomjee made significant contributions in the police reforms process. Rustomjee, 88, died in Mumbai today following prolonged illness and old age.
