Madurai, Sept 09: Three associates of al Umma activist Imam Ali, who was killed in Bangalore a few months ago, have been nabbed by the special investigation team, police said today.
Police said that the three - Haji, Abdul Gani and Sultan Badsha - had given shelter to one Shahjahan of Tirespuram in Tuticorin district, who had reportedly played a key role in the escape of Imam Ali to Bangalore from Tuticorin. Shahjahan was arrested some months ago.
All the three, arrested last night had been remanded to judicial custody for fifteen days from last night, police said.

Imam Ali and his friend hyderali, made a sensational escape when their associates hurled bombs and fired from their semi-automatic guns when the police stopped the vehicle, carrying Imam Ali and Hyderali, for lunch, near Tirumangalam, on March 7, 2002.
