Patna, Nov 19: An anguished Bihar Chief Minister
Rabri Devi today shot off a letter to her Assam countepart
Tarun Gogoi seeking effective steps against those perpetrating
atrocities on Biharis.
"I request you to identify the persons responsible for
grave crimes against Biharis and initiate strong action
against them. I would also like you to apprise us about the
action taken," she said in the letter.
Meanwhile, RJD chief Laloo Yadav demanded that the Centre send adequate para-military forces to Assam to put an end to unchecked violence and killing of innocent Biharis.
He demanded deployment of forces in Bihar to maintain calm after a spate of violent incidents triggered by the November 09 assault on Bihari students appearing for the Railway Recruitment Board in Assam.
"I am trying to contact Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani to request him to rush the forces to the two states to restore normalcy," the RJD leader said.
He said he was in touch with several members of Parliament on the issue and an all-party goodwill delegation would soon visit Assam to restore peace and harmony.
Yadav demanded strong action by the Centre against the NDA ally Shiv Sena whose activists reportedly vandalised the Railway Recruitment Board office in Mumbai yesterday.
