Recommendation to amend Kerala Panchayat Raj Act
Thiruvananthapuram, June 08: Kerala state election commission has recommended to the government to amend the state panchayat raj and municipality acts to incorporate provisions making mandatory for candidates contesting local bodies elections to file an affidavit regarding their assets, educational qualification and criminal background along with nomination papers.

Addressing a press conference here today, N Mohandas of the commission said a draft of the amendment had been submitted to the government.
The commission had recommended for amendments in Section 52 and 302 of panchayat raj and Sections 108 and 178 of municipality act.
