New Delhi, July 27: Chief of hardline religious outfit Jamiat-Ulema-Islam (JUI), Fazalur Rahman, has no compunction siding with the Taliban cause and has a word of advice for the US -- "Leave Afghanistan immediately." Rahman, who was in India recently, said the United States should change its policies towards the rest of the world as this was the only reason which led to widespread hatred against it.
"There should be an immediate reversal in the policies of the US," Rahman told during his visit to India.
To a question whether his party was under scanner of the US as it supported Taliban, the Pakistani cleric promptly said "Taliban is a movement and we supported it and we will continue to support it."
JUI, which is ruling the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan, has also been criticised for attempting to create a state within a state in Pakistan by having parallel laws in the border province.
"What we do in the state is as per the wishes of the people and the US has no right to speak about it," Rahman said.
To a question about the American role in Afghanistan, he was again quick to say "they should leave it immediately and allow the people of Afghanistan to decide their future."
