Sasaram, June 15: Activists of the banned Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) blew up a newly-constructed police station in Bihar's Naxalite-affected Rohtas district by triggering a dynamite, police said today. Over 50 armed MCC activists gheraoed Tillothu police station, about 30 km from here, and blasted it by triggering a dynamite late last night, police said.
Five rooms of the police station were damaged in the explosion but there was no report of loss of lives or looting of police weapons, they said.
The ultras had taken hostage three electricians who were working in the newly-constructed building and released them later.
On getting information, Superintendent of Police R P Yadav and other senior police officials reached the spot with additional police force but by that time the extremists had fled.
An electric wire, six used cartridges of SLR rifle and pamphlets of the MCC were recovered from the site, police said adding a massive combing operation has been launched to nab the extremists.
The MCC had twice blown Nauhatta police station in the district in the past. Recently they had blasted the office and guest house of forest range office at Rehla in the district.
