Britain's Greg Rusedski rallied to defeat Morocco's Younes El Aynaoui 6-7 (4/7) 7-5 6-4 6-3 on Monday in a first-round match at the US Open.
Rusedski advanced in two hours and 28 minutes, serving 17 aces with seven double faults. He will next play Sweden's Jonas Bjorkman.

The turning point came in the second set when El Aynaoui, serving to force a tie-breaker, netted a forehand and double faulted to surrender the set. El Aynaoui never reached a break point on Rusedski.
Rusedski won his first title in 18 months last February at San Jose, beating Andre Agassi in the final. His only grand slam final came in 1997 when Australia's Patrick Rafter beat him 6-3 6-2 4-6 7-5.
