60 kgs of opium recovered in J-K, two smugglers arrested
Jammu, Nov 01: Army troops today arrested two inter-state narcotic smugglers and recovered 60 kg of opium from a Tata Sumo vehicle on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Karpal Naka, 120 km from here, official sources said.

Army troops intercepted the vehicle when it was on its
way from Srinagar to Jammu at Karpal Naka on J-K national
highway early today, they told a news agency.
During search, troops recovered 60 kg of opium concealed
in sleeping bags, the sources said adding that two inter-state
smugglers were identified as Charanjeet Singh of Jalandhar
and Bashir Ahmed Mir of Pampore (Srinagar).
The vehicle driver, Nisar Ahmed has also been detained,
they said and added that a case has been registered by the
police and investigation has begun.
The narcotic item was being smuggled to Punjab for its
further dispatch to Mumbai, the sources said.
