New Delhi, July 23: Bharat Sanchar Nigam`s plea for reimbursement of licence and spectrum fee to the tune of Rs 2,300 crore has not been turned down by the government, the Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday. Replying to a written query, Ashok Pradhan, Minister of State for Communication and IT, said the corporation`s plea for reimbursement of fees has not been turned down but said the corporation would take a hit in its revenues of Rs 3,476 crore due to rollback in phone tariffs.
BSNL, which has launched its cellular mobile services in all states except the Northeast and Jammu and Kashmir, has made an investment of Rs 2,500 crore in the services and its subscriber base stands at about 30 lakhs.

The minister said the Telecom Commission has been reviewing BSNL`s functioning, including mobile services, at regular intervals and its operational aspects were being monitored on a weekly basis.
Replying to another question, Pradhan said WLL mobile services offered by BSNL have a subscriber base of 5.43 lakh, with 4.31 lakh in rural areas and 1.12 lakh in urban areas.
He dismissed any claim that BSNL`s WLL services have failed saying the services were running well in all states. Bureau Report
