Moga, May 05: Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee has decided to implement the Nanak Shahi calendar, released recently by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee in toto and all the prominent 'Gurpurbs' will be celebrated in accordance with the new calendar. This announcement was made today by co-chairman of PSGPC Sham Singh while addressing a congregation at a Akhand Path ceremony held at Gurdwara Nanakana Sahib.
Gurpurbs including birthday of Gurunanak Dev, Baisakhi, Martyrdom Day of Guru Arjan Dev and death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, will be celebrated according to the new calendar, he said.
The Akhand Path was organised by the PSGPC for the successful dialogue between India and Pakistan.
Sham Singh, conveyed this to Harpal Singh Bhullar, president international Bhai Mardana Yadgari society.
Bhullar told reporters that Sham Singh had sent a fax message to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee appreciating his bold step for taking initiative for peace.
He had also appealed to the Prime Minister for early resumption of the Samjhuta Express for the convenience of passengers of both the countries.
