San Marino, Apr 12: Williams-BMW driver Ralf Schumacher is out to heighten his brother Michael's misery in next week's San Marino Grand Prix. Although Michael will make his debut in Ferrari's new 2003 car, the F2003-GA at Imola, Ralf is confident his own car will be more competitive this time around.
Twelve months ago, the Ferrari driver powered to a comfortable victory but he has failed to get on the podium in the opening three races this season. But Ralf is hoping that he can repeat his 2001 win at Imola in 2001 next weekend.
"I remember last year that we did not have the smallest chance against Ferrari," admitted the 27-year-old, whose place at the Grove-based team is the subject of speculation. This time circumstances are different and the most recent test at Le Castellet has taken us another step forward.
"Improvements in testing are important, as the aim is now not only to beat Ferrari, but also prevent McLaren from opening up a lead."
Schumacher is currently on eight points in the drivers championship, alongside team-mate Juan Pablo Montoya and the Ferrari duo of his brother and Rubens Barrichello. But Schumacher has struggled to make an impact in the opening three races and there is paddock speculation of a swap deal with Fisichella that would take him back to Jordan before this season is over.

"My disappointment about the outcome of the Brazilian Grand Prix was short-lived," added Schumacher. "I am now focused on what is ahead, because the job at Imola will be difficult. Imola may not suit our car perfectly but it is always nice coming back to the location of my maiden F1 win.

"Perhaps this positive feeling might support me on the way to a good result."
