Forty-six people were killed when a bus flipped over in the province of Dhofar in southern Oman on Saturday, the state's Ona news agency reported.

Eight people were seriously wounded, Ona said. The bus flipped over with 54 people on board on Saturday afternoon in the mountainous region of Dhofar as it headed toward Salalah, about 1,000 kilometers south from Muscat, the agency said.

Four Omanis counted among the dead. The rest were other nationalities, it added. The agency could not say what caused the accident, nor was it able to immediately identify the nationalities of the dead foreigners.
