Lucknow, Oct 28: The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court today extended till November 27 next the stay on the arrest of the Samajawadi Party president, Mulayam Singh Yadav and seven others in the video CD case. A division bench comprising Justice Vishnu Sahai and Justice K S Rakhra passed the order on the petitions filed by Yadav and some other SP leaders in this regard.
The case was registered during the previous Mayawati regime alleging that Yadav, SP general secretary Amar Singh, party leaders Azam Khan, Ambika Chaudhary and four others had prepared a forged video cassettes and CDs showing Mayawati asking BSP MPs and MLAs to donate a part of their constituency development fund to the party coffers.
The SP leaders later challenged the validity of the firs registered in this regard at the Hazratganj Police Station here on April 14 last.
The High Court had stayed the arrest of all the eight accused persons in the case.
