Hyderabad, Sept 22: A ten-day Monsoon Session of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly begins here today with a combative opposition drawing up strategies to corner state government on the fake stamp paper scam, criminalisation of politics, improper utilisation of river waters and ineffective handling of the drought situation. While the Rs 32,000 crore fake stamp paper scam is likely to storm into the centrestage, the state government has been preparing its defence with equal vigour.
The arrest of former Minister C Krishna Yadav by Pune Police in connection with the stamp paper scam has put the ruling front on an embarrassing posture, nevertheless, TDP contends that it has taken action and would not spare any one if they were found guilty.
High Court passing strictures against the continuance of Housing Minister P Ramasubba Reddy, accused in a murder case, would be the highpoint of the discussion on criminalisation of politics. The names of a couple of other Ministers facing criminal charges against them would also figure in the debate.

Regional jingoism over water-sharing would add vigour to the stormy session as political parties were involved serious agitations demanding more share of water for irrigation and drinking water, more so, the Krishna River water.

Drought management would be the issue which would surface with a hard punch in discussion from treasury and opposition benches each pressing it view point.

With Karawan byelection falling during the session, the issue of Telengana would also figure prominently as Telengana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is testing political waters in the poll.
