Jaipur, Oct 18: Irked by excessive security measures causing inconvenience to people during his movement in the city, Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat today ordered removal of all police restrictions.

Visibly annoyed by the presence of large number of police personnel wherever he was visiting in the town, his home for the last 50 years, Shekhawat rang up DGP Shantanu Kumar and ordered him to remove all security posse immediately. "It is a torture. I belong to this place and why should common men suffer restrictions due to my movements," he asked.

Shekhawat's anger was fuelled when he went to the famous Ganesh temple this morning. Finding no devotees there, he enquired about them and was informed that police had stopped entry of other visitors into the temple. Later at Choolgiri Digambar Jain shrine also he saw a posse of policemen.

He asked for a mobile phone and rang up the DGP to immediately remove all restrictions on common people. "I am at the Choolgiri temple and I do not want to see any police men when I leave this place," he said.

Earlier he did away with the large motorcade and also discarded the bullet proof car and visited people and places in an ambassador car with its window panes open. Bureau Report
