Normally monsoon hits Kerala on 1st of June, but it is
difficult to say how things would develop at this stage, Dr S
K Subramanian, deputy director general of meteorology, said.
The present conditions do not favour any advance of the monsoon for the next two-three days, he said.
Cyclonic storm that had led to development of intense low pressure system had disturbed the circulation pattern in Bay of Bengal, he said adding its effect was easing out and circulation pattern would return to normal
"Only then anything can be said about the South-West Monsoon," he said. The cyclonic storm, which had started developing on may 10, had crossed the Myanmar coast last night.
The monsoon had entered the south Andaman Sea and adjoining south east bay on May 16, which is about the normal time. However, after that it had not advanced further
After hitting south Andaman sea and adjoining south east bay, the monsoon advances to remaining parts of Bay of Bengal, areas in the south of Kanyakumari, south Arabian Sea, mainland Kerala and then travels up to Rajasthan. Bureau Report
