Nitish orders probe into Warangal train mishap

Patna, July 02: Railway Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday announced an inquiry by the Commissioner, Railway Safety (South), into the train accident in Warangal in which at least 22 people were killed.
Minister of State for Railways Bandaru Dattatreya, Railway Board chairman and general manager of South Central Railway were rushing to the accident site, Kumar said here.
Asked about the ex-gratia payment to the victims` families, Kumar said that it would be announced by Dattatreya at Warangal. Kumar however speculated at the reason of the accident. He said that it is likely that the brakes failed and train overshot the signal.

Two bogies of Hyderabad-bound Golkonda Express derailed and fell from a rail over-bridge, hitting two autorikshaws near Warangal town on Wednesday morning, killing at least 22 people and injuring about 15.
