Itanagar, Aug 19: Arunachal Chief Minister Gegong Apang has said there is no threat to the United Democratic Front coalition government which enjoys the support of the people. "Forty one elected members have reposed faith in my leadership and thus I have the mandate of the people", Apang said yesterday brushing aside the opposition charge that UDF government did not enjoy the support of public.

Terming the speculation raised in some quarters that the coalition would last for only two months, as baseless, Apang said: "There is no threat to my government." The Chief Minister said his government would expedite development process with the consensus political opinion of legislators of the ruling dispensation.

Though not much time was left for the government as elections were round the corner, "we will achieve the goal" - (of development), Apang, who assumed power after erstwhile Chief Minister Mukut Mithi was defeated in a trust vote on August 02, said.

Mithi had dislodged Apang from power four years back. Apang said the defence ministry has agreed in principle to create Arunachal scouts on the lines of Ladhakh scouts. An infantry regiment with one brigade strength would be initially created to safeguard the border areas as well as to solve the growing unemployment problem.
