Srinagar, May 29: Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (Hudco) has so far sanctioned 124 projects in Jammu and Kashmir at an overall cost of Rs 4820 crore with a loan component of Rs 934.11 crore. With the financial assistance, 57,161 units including 21,749 for dwelling, have been made available to the beneficiaries under various categories, state's Minister for Housing and Urban Development Ghulam Hassan Mir said at a joint meeting of officials of Hudco. Over 11,000 plots and 24,082 sanitation units have also been established with assistance from Hudco, he said.
Mir, however, expressed dissatisfaction over the non-utilisation of loan component of the assistance. He said against the overall loan commitment of Rs 934.11 crore, the concerned agencies had so far drawn only Rs 247.47 crore.
This speaks of the negligence of the concerned agencies and the attitude has to be changed, he told the officials. He said so far 77 housing schemes with a project cost of Rs 129.65 crore and a Hudco loan of Rs 77.17 crore have been sanctioned to various borrowing agencies which have been able to draw only Rs 59.92 crore so far.
Regional chief of Hudco P S Khurana, while identifying the defaulting trends, said such issues come in the way of timely sanction.
He said Hudco had an ambitious programme of extending loan facility in a phased manner and had cleared another 12 projects in the state this year at a cost of Rs 4585 crore with a loan component of Rs 790.43 crore.
Mir said the government was developing three villages in Baramulla district as model villages. Bureau Report
