Bhopal, Oct 22: Slapping Rs 15,000 crore corruption charge against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh in the past 10 years, BJP leader Uma Bharti today said assets seized during income tax raids on Indore-based businessman Subhash Gupta proved her allegation. Throwing an open challenge to Singh, she told reporters here that if the Chief Minister wanted to prove his innocence he should recommend a CBI probe into the properties detected during searches on Gupta's premises within a week.
She claimed that properties and assets recovered during raid on Gupta's properties were so huge that even 15 days after the search operations, their total value could not be finalised and it was mounting regularly.
Singh should explain his relationship with Gupta because the businessman had accompanied the Chief Minister several times on foreign tours, she alleged.
Bharti claimed if Gupta's landline and mobile phone calls are investigated, probe agencies would be able to ascertain how and through which channels Rs 15,000 crore had been shifted to different banks and strong rooms.
To a question, she said only Union Finance Ministry and top income tax officials could tell why raids were conducted on Gupta's premises only 45 days before assembly polls.
