Asansol (WB), Aug 30: Apparently to keep the BJP leadership in good humour, the Trinamool Congress meeting here in a special session today sidestepped the controversial issues of Ayodhya dispute and uniform civil code, but reiterated its decision to remain in the NDA and fight the next Lok Sabha elections in alliance with BJP in West Bengal. The session being held after a gap of one and half years, passed a political resolution underscoring the need for strengthening the hands of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee prior to the Lok Sabha polls.

Touching on the prevailing political situation in the country, the political resolution was unanimously adopted at the session during the day.

It complimented Vajpayee for his tremendous ability to effectively run a stable government comprising a combination of parties in the ruling NDA, when the nation was facing the challenges of terrorist activities aimed at destabilisation and the evil designs of a 'foreign enemy', meaning Pakistan.

"Alliance politics is now the order of the day and the NDA alliance has amply demonstrated how a stable government is effectively functioning in the country facing all odds," the resolution said.
