New Delhi, June 03: The Indian Amateur Boxing Federation will hold a trial camp this month-end for selection of pugilists for the world championship, scheduled to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from July 14 to 21. The camp, to be held in Silaru, Himachal Pradesh in the last week of June, will give the IABF selection committee the chance to pick eight boxers after the return of some of the top pugilists, including Mohammad Qamar Ali, Som Bahadur Pun and Jitender Kumar to the country from Cuba.

The three boxers alongwith Ajit Pal and Vijender Singh are currently undergoing advanced training in Cuba and are set to return on June 26.

"The camp will start on June 14, but the selection trial will begin after June 26 following the return of the senior boxers from Cuba," IABF sources said here today.

"We are confident that the training will help the boxers to come up with good performance in Thailand," they said.

Besides the five boxers, four junior pugilists -- Diwakar Prasad, Jay Bhagwan, Surender and Balbir -- are also currently undergoing training in Cuba.

A nine-member Indian competition team is also there for the 36th Giraldo Cordova Cardin International Boxing Tournament in the eastern city of Santiago.

The competition squad members are scheduled to return on June 12 and will proceed from here to Silaru to attend the camp, the sources said.
