Tripartite talks between the Centre, Assam government and Bodo Liberation Tigers (BLT) are likely to be held after the ensuing assembly polls in the state to take a final decision on various measures to strengthen the Bodoland Autonomous Council (BAC) and make it financially viable.
This was decided during talks between Union home ministry officials and BLT leaders, who also met Home Minister L K Advani at his North Block office on Friday. Our talks have progressed satisfactorily and we are moving towards an amicable solution. The next round will be held after the assembly elections and these will be tripartite talks, BLT Publicity Secretary Mainav Daimary told reporters after meeting with Advani and with Vice Chairman Kamal Muchahari.
Replying to questions, Daimary said the broad contours of the issues have been sorted out and we are satisfied. Asked whether the Centre had decided on any financial package for BAC, he said, “Let the government decide, we will examine it.”

This was the third time that BLT leaders met Advani to resolve the issues pertaining to BAC. The first meeting was held last year and the other earlier this week..
The main thrust of BLT's struggle was to make BAC an effective organisation for the uplift of Bodo tribals and expand the area under the council.
