Madhuri Saxena and Neelam Singh win silver for India
New Delhi, Sept 21: Middle distance runner Madhuri Saxena and discus thrower Neelam J Singh won two silver medals for India on the second day of the 15th Asian Athletic Championships in Manila, the Philippines today.

But the other Indians in today's finals including high jumper Bobby Aloysius and heptatheletes Soma Biswas and G G Promila disappointed.
Madhuri won the country's first silver in the women's 1500m clocking a time of 4 minutes, 17.87 seconds. But she could not overtake Tatiana Borisova of Kyrgyzstan who won the gold in 4:15.97s. Stevlana Lukasheva of Kazakhstan (4:23.12) finished a distant third.
Neelam, who won the Asian Games gold medal in Busan last year, could manage a best heave of only 58.64 metres and finished behind China's Li Yangfeng who touched 61.87m. Yangfeng's compatriot Xu Shaoyang (58.13) took the bronze. The other Indian in the fray Harbans Kaur finished fourth with a best effort of 55.89m, according to information received here.
In the women's high jump, Asian Games silver medallist bobby finished fourth managing to clear a height of 1.80m. She finished behind Vietnam's Bui Thi Nhung (1.88m), Miyuki Aoyama (Japan, 1.84m) and Chaipech Noeng-Ruthai of Thailand (1.84) who emerged on the podium.
