Nepal's King Gyanendra has donated two million rupees in assistance to civilians and security personnel who have become victims to the Maoist violence. The king donated one million rupees to the Prime Minister's fund set up for the victims of the six-year-old insurgency, state-run news agency RSS reported.

An equal amount was handed over to a fund established by the Nepal Army Officers' Wives' Association to help families of army personnel who have lost their lives in the anti-terror operations.
