Srinagar, Sep 17: With the polling for the first phase over in two districts of Kashmir, political parties have shifted their activities to Srinagar and Budgam districts holding meetings and public rallies while terrorists carried out a grenade attack on the Congress headquarters at Srinagar.

Campaigning in assembly segments in Budgam district gained momentum today with the ruling national conference and main Opposition Congress and People's Democratic Party holding a number of election meetings. NC president Omar Abdullah held a series of meetings in the Shia dominated district. However, the ruling party is facing a tough time here after they denied ticket to prominent Shia leader Aga Sayeed Mehmood.

Some political activities were seen in Srinagar as well with PDP general secretary Tariq Hamid Kara addressing small gatherings in militant-infested area of Batmaloo and NC rebel Raman Mattoo moving around in Habbakadal assembly segment highlighting the "misrule of Farooq Abdullah government." Some Independent candidates from Hazratbal were also busy in electioneering.
