Chennai, July 12: Tamil Nadu government employees have called off their 11-day old strike to create a conducive atmosphere for talks with the government.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Federation of the Joint Action Council of the Tamil Nadu Teachers and Government Employees organisations and the Confederation of Tamil Nadu Teachers and Government Employees associations.
K Suryamurthy, President of the Tamil Nadu government employees union, said the associations want to get their grievances redressed and have requested the government to reciprocate by revoking dismissal orders of over 3.5 lakh employees.

The meeting also passed a resolution appealing to the government to call the employees for negotiations without standing on prestige.
