Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned on Monday in memory of King Birendra and Queen Aishwarya of Nepal who were assasinated on June 1.
Besides the summit, other issues which are likely to rock Parliament are the UTI scam, recall of the Tamil Nadu governor, Manipur crisis, Orissa floods, Tehelka and economic matters like the disinvestment of PSUs, particularly Air India, and fiscal mismanagement are to be taken up in this Session. Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will make a statement on the summit on Tuesday after question hour, which is likely to be followed by a discussion on the issue in both Houses. Both Houses are likely to adjourn on Monday after obituary references to Nepal`s late King Birendra.
Beginning exactly a week after the Vajpayee-Musharraf summit and with memories of Agra fresh, the session will witness the Congress, Left and other opposition parties, who have been accusing government of lack of ground work and preparation, demanding from the government a threadbare account of what happened in Agra.
The Opposition has also been critical of the Indian government`s media mismanagement during the summit and advised the government to take lessons from the Agra talks for any future dialogue.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi, who is the leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, has convened a meeting of Opposition leaders on Monday apparently aimed at a joint floor strategy to pillory the government on various issues.
