New Delhi, Jan 02: In a significant development, the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission has dispensed with the requirement of obtaining no objection certificate for captive power plants in the national capital region of Delhi in view of the hardship faced by public in obtaining these certificates from pollution controlling bodies. After being apprised of the difficulties faced by public in obtaining the NOCs, DERC took up the matter with the Delhi Pollution Control Committee and the state government and emphasised on the need to expedite their action, a DERC release said here today.
However, in absence of requisite mechanism for issuance of the certificate, DERC has decided to dispense the said requirement from its clause, the release added.
The regulation had stipulated an NOC from environmental/pollution angle from the concerned central or state pollution controlling authorities. Bureau Report
