Shillong, Aug 06: BJP has said there should not be any ambiguity in the status of Arunachal Pradesh as an integral part of India. In a resolution adopted at the party's North-East zone meet which concluded yesterday, BJP said Arunachal Pradesh had never been a part of China "historically" and was "not linked" with that country in any manner.

There should not be any "ambiguity" in Arunachal Pradesh as a state of India, the resolution said. The resolution was taken in the wake of some Chinese leaders' recent statements questioning the status of Arunachal Pradesh as a part of India.

Referring to the insurgency problem in the entire North-East, it said the governments, especially in Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Assam and Mizoram had 'failed' to check unlawful activities.

"This meeting urged the Centre to provide more power to the central security forces stationed in the North-East to combat terrorism as the state governments are not sincere to check terrorism", the resolution said. Bureau Report
