Kohima, May 20: Excise sleuths have seized 4,800 kg of ganja and arrested a driver of a truck in Dimapur, official sources said here today. Acting on a tip-off, excise personnel intercepted two trucks, bearing registration number of Assam and Nagaland respectively, which carried 4,800 kg of the contraband in Burma Camp area of the town yesterday.

Police arrested one driver who hails from Manipur. The other driver along with handymen managed to escape.

The narcotic substance sealed in plastic sheets was hidden in a compartment especially designed in the carrier compartment of the trucks and the contraband was said to be destined to Assam from Mao area of Manipur.
