Islamabad, Sept 20: Pakistan federal commerce minister Humayun Akhter Khan has said Pakistan had no intention of offering "sex services" under the WTO's general agreement on trade in services. To a question in the national assembly from a member of Islamist Muthahida Majlis Amal, the minister said, "the services (under GATS) have been classified into 12 sections and about 160 sub-sections. Sex services are not mentioned."

MMA member Abdus Sattar Afghani asked whether the WTO was going to formulate laws on sex services and what steps the Pakistani government had taken in this regard. "We received no such request from the WTO," Khan replied.

To another question, the commerce minister said Pakistan's exports had crossed the $11 billion barrier during the last fiscal year due to the government's "consistent policies".
