Chennai, Nov 04: The Madras High Court today rejected a petition seeking to stay the appointment of senior advocate N Kannadasan as a High Court judge on the ground that there were serious allegations about his professional conduct. Dismissing the petition filed by two city advocates, a division bench, comprising Chief Justice B Subhashan Reddy and K Gnanaprakasam, pointed out that the supreme court had approved recommendations by the Centre, apex court, Madras High Court and Tamil Nadu government for the appointment of Kannadasan as a High Court judge. Twice the apex court had reiterated its approval for his appointment after receiving representations seeking to stop it, the bench observed. As the recommendation had finally culiminated in a presidential order appointing him as judge of Madras High Court, the charges levelled by the petitioners-- N G R Prasad and V Selvaraj-- were not justifiable, the judges held and dismissed the petition. "We do not see any substantive question of law so as to grant leave", the judges said.
