Jammu, Sept 28: The Election Commission today reviewed arrangements, including security set up, for the remaining two phases of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. CEC J M Lyngdoh accompanied by Election Commissioners T S Krishnamurthy and B B Tandon held a series of meetings with senior civil, military, para-military and police officials here, official sources said.
The team, which is on a two-day visit to Jammu, took note of complaints of various political parties and the concerned district election officers were directed to keep Electronic Voting Machines in sealed rooms after the polling is over, the sources said.
Various aspects of security, including deployment of para-military troops, were also deliberated upon during the meetings, they said, adding the CEC asked the officers to ensure transparency to avoid any confusion among the electorate.
Four districts of Anantnag, Pulwama, Kathua and Udhampur are going to polls in the third phase on October one, while elections in Doda district will be held in the fourth and final round on October 8.
Earlier, the EC team visited Doda and held meetings with senior state officers, including chief secretary I S Malhi and DGP A K Suri, on the poll preparedness. Bureau Report
