New Delhi, Mar 18: The newly elected Nagaland government will seek cooperation from all segments of the Naga society in order to resolve the five-decade old Naga political problem peacefully. Addressing his maiden press conference here, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today said his government had decided to issue letters to all Naga groups both mainstream and underground to work jointly for the betterment of Nagas. He said his government would try to secure a negotiated settlement of Naga political problem acceptable to the people. ''We appreciate the sincere effort of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to bring a permanent solution to the political problem. We will extend full support to the peace process and in the event of any settlement, we shall pave way for an alternative arrangement.''
Rio and his cabinet colleagues also hailed the contribution of the Naga Ho Ho, churches and NGOs towards establishing peace and uniting the Nagas.
On the vexed issue of greater Nagaland, Rio said the Central government had committed in 1960 under a 16 point agreement to create a greater Nagaland. However, any political solution can be achieved by way of ''give and take'' and all options were open, the chief minister said.

The Nagaland CM along with his cabinet members have already met the Prime Minister yesterday and will met his L K Advani today. Though it is a courtesy call but they are expected to raise some of the security related issues with the Deputy Prime Minister.

Rio had requested Vajpayee yesterday for further Central funds for the state. The PM has assured him of the Central support.
He said they have also met human resource development minister Murli Manohar Joshi for strengthening the information technology base in Nagaland and Joshi had assured them of all possible support. He said in order to bring in transparency his government would introduce the system of e-governance soon. He said the state government is also keen on developing the state's tourism as the industry had got huge potential for generating employment in the state.

Replying to another question, Rio said the issue of Inner Line Permit (ILP) would not be any impediment for the promotion of tourism in the state. The cm said the state government would open offices at Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati soon for the issuance of ILP to the tourists.
