New Delhi, Aug 14: Cricket board is considering the option of giving a monetary compensation to its cricketers affected by ICC's sponsorship policy to ensure their participation in next month's champions trophy in Sri Lanka.

BCCI sources here said compensating the four star players - skipper Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag - was one of the moves being planned by the board to resolve the stalemate arising out of the cricketers' reluctance to sign the 'players terms' form in the participating nations agreement for the champions trophy. These four players stand to suffer the most due to ICC restrictions on endorsement of any product, one month before and after the tournament, which was potentially conflicting to the interests of the official sponsors.

The sources said BCCI was in constant touch with its counterparts in Australia and England which are facing the same problem. BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmiya's business office in Kolkata has emerged as a central point for hectic consultations.

When contacted, Dalmiya, however, refused to comment on the issue saying it was too premature to say anything at this stage.

BCCI had withheld announcement of the Indian squad for the champions trophy as it was yet to secure signatures from the players on the form. Bureau Report
