London, June 22: Prince William, eldest son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, has said that he does not have a steady girl-friend and joked that only the mad girls chase him. William, who celebrated his 21st birthday yesterday, said there's been a lot of speculation about every single girl I'm with and it actually does quite irritate me after a while, more so because it's a complete pain for the girls.
Among the young friends invited to the African themed fancy dress party last night were Jessica Craig, his former companion in Kenya; Kate Middleton, his St Andrews University flat mate; the polo-playing Natalie Hicks-Lobbecke; and Davina Duckworth Chad, who joined him for a summer cruise.
"I don't have a steady girl-friend," William said in an interview published in the newspaper today.
However, he said that he did not lack confidence if he found a girl attractive. "If I fancy a girl and I really like her and she fancies me back, which is rare, I ask her out."
William, modest about his description as one of the most eligible bachelors in the world, joked about his lack of a girlfriend.
"Only the mad girls chase me," he claimed. "No, I've never been aware of anyone chasing me but if there were, could they please leave their telephone number." Bureau Report
